Fantastic day out. Hard work (obviously) but it seemed that the whole of London set out to have a good time, and had forgotten all their differences. On the way round I actually saw and Arsenal and Spurs fan hugging each other – yes, hugging and not mugging!! The crowds lifted everyone’s spirits and made the hours of slogging through the damp and cold in the run up to the race worthwhile. Everyone was in good spirits, the banter was very, very funny, from runner and spectator alike.
The organisation, particularly the logistics was exceptional, and many lessons could be learnt from the Marathon event that would help us in our working lives too. Even down to the fact that your ‘finishing clothes’ were put in a numbered see through duffel bag, deposited at the start at Blackheath and were presented to you at the Mall a few hours later.
So, will I do it again? – You bet.
Thanks to all the fantastic support I received, the sponsors, Ali, Rachel, Ben and Amanda and from the Royal British Legion Team.
